Giuseppe Conte is the 58th prime minister of Italy. He is an Italian jurist and politician. A professor of private law, he was proposed, in May 2018, for the role of Prime Minister at the head of the government formed on the basis of a contract-based pact between Movimento Cinque Stelle and Lega, the two major parties from the March 2018 election.
Professor Conte, graduated in Rome, a professor of private law at the Faculty of Law in Florence, before being a prime minister was a good lawyer (with an important study in Rome) and, for many of his students, also an excellent teacher, able to have a good relationship with many of them after the exams.
A few knew him outside these fields. He declared that he had voted on the left but last autumn, the friendship with Alfonso Bonafede led him to approach Luigi Di Maio with whom he also collaborated in the drafting of a part of the 5 star movement's electoral program. From here to being first indicated as a possible minister, "for the spirit of service", then as premier, the step was short.
